Girl Like This

This has been an exhausting week. I had hoped that we'd get our first snow day on Monday but the snow completely passed us. It would hurt my little feelings hearing about my twitter friends tweeting about their work or kid's school being canceled. NOT FAIR.

Saturday morning I met up for brunch with my mother and my aunt. Now I have never been to a brunch before and never had a mimosa. It was my mission to have one!

It was tasty and if it wasn't 11am, and if it wasn't $5 a glass, I might have ordered more! I like going to eat at little fancy places like that. It was a bit expensive but worth it. I decided on getting the eggs Benedict with salmon and my mom and aunt both ordered their breakfast wrap.

The rest of the weekend was pretty lazy and I hated to see Sunday roll around because it meant work the next day. Like I mentioned we didn't get that snow day I was hoping for. Monday must have been the longest day because that evening I sighed and looked over at my husband and said, "Gah, is it barely going to be Wednesday tomorrow?" Um, no it wasn't. Again with the disappointment. This freaking week is too long already!

Anyhow LAST Friday I had that doctors appointment that I had been waiting on. You know, the one regarding the weird bump on my breast? Well everything turned out OK, thank God! It wasn't a cyst or anything scary. He thinks it was a clogged nipple duct. Totally weird to me since, um.. i'm not breastfeeding nor have I ever been pregnant. I did a search online and found this little bit of info.

Non-breastfeeding infection:
Women who are not breastfeeding can still develop infection. The most common site affected is the area close to the nipple. Most women who get this type of infection are in their late 20s and early 30s and about 90 per cent of them smoke cigarettes. It seems that something in cigarette smoke damages the duct underneath the nipple and causes it to become infected. This condition is called periductal mastitis and causes pain and redness around the nipple and there is sometimes an associated lump. Antibiotics will get rid of the infection, but if the duct underneath the nipple is damaged, then it is likely that the infection will recur. If you do get recurrent episodes of infection, then you may have to have an operation to remove the diseased duct or ducts.

OOPS on the smoking part. He tried to express the bump with his hands and made it go down some. I just have to keep an eye on it in case it gets bigger or starts to get infected. YAY... so not sexy.

But you know what's sexy? This. I can only wish to be this fly, amirite?

  1. How have you never had a mimosa? I'm glad you got one because they are delicious. Thank goodness things weren't too bad at the doctor's but that still scary.
