Sweetheart

Friday we started the weekend by celebrating my mother's birthday. The Hubs and I took her and my stepfather out to eat at her restaurant choice which was Red Lobster. When she told me where she wanted to go I wasn't too excited about it but after arriving I was glad that she did. I haven't had seafood in a while and the meal was super tasty. I got the Ultimate feast and a delicious bloody mary because bloody mary's are my absolute favorite alcoholic drink. We left stuffed and happy.

Saturday I was able to spend time with my dad which was really nice. I haven't seen him in probably over a month so I was glad he called. We went out to eat at the restaurant of my choosing which was one of my favorite Mexican food places because I love their tripa burritos. We had michelada's, because that's my OTHER favorite alcoholic drink, and caught up a bit. He actually mentioned my weight loss which was nice because it means he noticed. Thing is with my dad sometimes I feel like he doesn't notice things about me and my life so it made me happy he acknowledged the change.

In the evening was our Sweetheart Dance. We arrived early to attend the cocktail hour which had a cash bar. They gave us two drink tickets a piece so we actually didn't have to pay for any because drinks were expensive. When they opened the doors to the dance hall we found ourselves a table and waited till they opened the food lines. It was funny to see the diverse crowd. It was all types of ages and some people dressed up nice like I did and some just came in jeans. I think dressing up made it more special because it was a special evening. Food was just OK but I didn't go to the dance starving which was good. We took photos that were $5 which wasn't bad and pretty much the only extra money we spent that night.

Now onto the bands. The first band played way too loud and played a lot of non-danceable songs that I have never heard of. Really the only time that they had a bunch of people on the dance floor was when they played an instrumental oldie which they followed up by playing Mony Mony and they were done. The second band is one I used to go and watch all the time when I was single. They are a great cover band and, well, I had a little teeny crush on the lead singer/drummer. Heh. They really should have just hired them for the whole night because they can put on a show and weren't lame like band #1.

I have a video i've been trying to upload to youtube since forever ago earlier this evening BUT it's not cooperating. I'll have to update later on when I get it to work. Pictures in the meantime.
